The Traveling Plate is an opportunity to experience delectable cuisine and meet new people in a unique and constantly changing setting. Since menus and locations are one-night only affairs, each evening is meant to be a once in a lifetime experience. Our mission is for guests to come for a great meal, leave with an unforgettable experience . . . all for a great cause. Our dinners are hosted in unique locations from art galleries to warehouses to lofts. Without the constraints of a traditional restaurant, chefs can experiment and have a more direct relationship with dinner guests. Underground dinners typically attract adventurous patrons that are looking for a unique culinary experience in a setting that is more social than your typical restaurant. Communal tables ensure that good conversation is as important to the experience as the food.
The Traveling Plate underground dinner concept was created by Arc Broward and came to fruition through a project of the Leadership Broward Foundation Class XXX. The founding members of the group include professionals from different industries who came together to bring awareness of Arc Broward’s social enterprises (Arc Culinary and Arc Educates) to a new audience of foodies.
Arc Culinary uses food as a tool to transform lives for adults with disabilities and other life challenges. The non-profit catering business creates outstanding culinary experiences in an ambiance of style and taste while providing real-world employment opportunities for graduates of the Arc Educates Entry Level Culinary Arts Certificate Program. Proceeds from the dinner will be used to fund scholarships for students with financial barriers so that they may enroll and complete Arc Educates’ 16-week culinary arts post secondary certificate program.
